House of the Dragon ended with a brilliant finale. The first season of the Game of Thrones prequel has been a hit with franchise fans, but has also occasionally drawn harsh criticism. Large parts of the community found about the jumps in time and new casts particularly annoying. But they should not return in season 2. Warning, spoilers!
House of the Dragon Creators Announce Big Season 2 Change
Series creator Ryan Condal told Deadline:
As a thank you to our wonderful audience, who followed us through all the time jumps and new casts: They’re done. From now on, we’re telling the story in real time. […] We won’t be filling anyone again.
Condal’s words should be balm on the souls of some fans. Especially with the abrupt 10-year jump from episode 6 and the Recasting of two main characters some followers had to struggle. In addition, the time interval between two scenes was sometimes difficult to estimate.
When is Season 2 of the Game of Thrones sequel House of the Dragon coming?
It remains to be seen whether the Game of Thrones community will prefer a more compact narrative form. There is no exact start date for season 2, but filming is expected to last until mid-2023. So we calculate early 2024 with the release.
