The shooting has decreased by nearly 40,000 moose in ten years and is now reaching new lows, according to a forecast produced by the Swedish Hunters’ Association.
– Too many moose have been shot, says Anders Nilsson of the Swedish Hunters’ Association.
According to him, both the state authority Skogsstyrelsen and the trade organization Skogsindustrierna have made very tough demands on the hunting corps.
– It is difficult for the individual to create an overview. You can take an analogy that everyone would put tax money in a pile and then you can take as much as you want. It then becomes difficult to determine how much you can take so that it will be passed on to someone else.
How can this be turned around?
– Here, the administration, in the form of both authorities, landowners and hunters, must find a way forward where you simply lower the allocations and let the elk tribe recover.
