The small former Soviet country has struggled to wean itself off its dependence on Russian gas.

Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilița announced the resignation of his board on Friday.

Later on Friday, the country’s president Maia Sandu accepted the resignation of the board. Sandu says that he has started discussions with the governing parties to appoint a new prime minister.

Moldova is a former Soviet country of about 2.5 million people, which has been burdened by high inflation and a large number of Ukrainian refugees.
