“The most powerful proposal ever”, the Moderates claim about their new ten-point program against theft leagues.
– This is crime at the industrial level, says the party’s legal policy spokesman Johan Forssell.
According to Forssell, the proposals that are now being put forward are those that are being put “on top of the broad investment in the expansion of the police”. Among the measures are to give the Swedish Customs greater powers, and that even those who work there must carry weapons, and that those who are convicted can serve their sentences in another country.
– This (theft leagues) is a phenomenon that affects tens of thousands. We want to increase the penalties and introduce mandatory detention so that you are deprived of your liberty during the process and cannot continue to commit crimes, says Forssell.
The moderates also want to see a abolished so-called quantity discount.
– In practice, this would mean that you can be sentenced to the full penalty value for three crimes.
Among the proposals is also that the police should be given increased opportunities to publish pictures of suspected perpetrators. That proposal is not only linked to theft leagues.
– It is of course a balancing act there, around personal integrity. It should be in cases where it weighs over publishing so that the public can help, says Forssell.
