The moderates demand that politicians suspected of crimes take time out

It was on Monday that Bollnäs politician Roy Vonborg (M) was arrested on suspicion of assault and breach of child protection. Now the party demands that he take a time-out.

– Our regulations say that if you are suspected of a crime, you must take time out. So at the moment he does not have his political assignments, says Mårten Strömberg, ombudsman for the Moderates in Gävleborg.

Previously convicted

It is not the first time that Roy Vonborg has been suspected of crime. He has previously been sentenced to prison for assault and illegal deprivation of liberty. Something that the Moderates, before the 2018 election, did not see as any obstacle to him being allowed to hold positions of trust within the party.

– Then the party in Bollnäs considered that they had confidence in him even though he had been convicted of a crime, says Mårten Strömborg.
