Although spider web is considered dirty and discarded, it is very important for health. Trakya University Faculty of Medicine student Aslı Nur Özkan explained that the extract obtained from spider web kills cancer cells in her study. According to this study, spider web has a selective anti-cancer effect on prostate cancer cells. However, it does not show this effect on healthy cells. In other words, the extract we obtained has the ability to select cancer cells.”
THERE IS A LONG WAY TO IMPLEMENTATION ON HUMAN
Özkan stated that they will continue to work to further develop the extract they obtained from the spider web as a result of two years of effort, and said, “Because, as with all drugs discovered, our invention has a long way to go until it reaches the stage of application to humans.
“I WISH MY MEETING TAKES IT’S DUE PLACE IN THE WORLD MARKET AS ONE OF THE DOMESTIC MEDICINES”
This means a process of at least 5 years. Of course, my biggest dream is to take my work to the final stage. I hope that when the time comes, my invention will find its deserved place in the world market as one of the domestic drugs developed by our country.
