The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar denies that the country is withdrawing from the Gaza ceasefire negotiations | News in brief

News agencies previously reported, citing diplomatic sources, that Qatar no longer acts as a mediator between Israel and Hamas.

Qatar’s foreign ministry said on Saturday that the country has taken a break from its role as a peace negotiator in the Gaza war.

However, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry denies claims that the country is withdrawing from the Gaza ceasefire talks altogether.

The news agencies AFP and Reuters reported earlier on Saturday evening, citing diplomatic sources, that Qatar will no longer act as a mediator between Israel and Hamas in the cease-fire and hostage negotiations regarding Gaza.

A representative of the Qatari Foreign Ministry said on Saturday, according to the Reuters news agency, that Qatar will resume its role as a peace broker when it receives sufficient evidence that the parties want to end the brutal war in Gaza.

Qatar’s foreign ministry also denied claims that it is cracking down on the Doha office of Hamas’ political wing.
