The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is temporarily closing the Murmansk office under the Consulate General in St. Petersburg, as the core tasks of the office have been significantly reduced. However, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the operation can be restarted later if necessary.

The Murmansk office was established in 1992. It is focused on immigration issues, bilateral contacts and cross-border cooperation.

Finland’s other missions in Russia will continue to operate. In the northwestern Russian region, Finland has a main consulate in St. Petersburg and an office under it in Petrozavodsk.

Preparations for the temporary closure of the office have already started and the office’s customer service is no longer open. You can still apply for a Schengen visa to Finland at VFS Global’s visa service center in Murmansk.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other matters previously handled by the office can be turned to the consulate general in St. Petersburg.
