It is unacceptable, says French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau to Sud Radio. The flag covered large parts of one short side of the Parc des Princes and was unfurled just before kick-off on Wednesday night. At the bottom it read: “War on the field, but peace in the world”. Thursday next week, France and Israel meet in the Nations League at the Stade de France in Paris. Yonathan Arfi, president of the Council of Jewish Institutions in France, describes the flag as “scandalous”, reports the AFP news agency. According to Interior Minister Retailleau, there may be talk of PSG being punished and he writes on X: “Such messages are against the rules of the league and Uefa. If this happens again, we must consider banning typhoons from clubs that do not follow the rules”. The club said in a statement that it did not know about the message on the supporters’ flag in advance. “The club strongly opposes any kind of political message in the stadium,” writes PSG.
