The Minister of Migration: Information campaign to be launched | SVT News

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Minister of Migration and the Sweden Democrats’ group leader in the Riksdag, Henrik Vinge, held a press conference on Tuesday morning about what has been done and what is planned going forward in the cooperation projects related to migration policy.

Among other things, the Migration Agency has been tasked with preparing for the new decision on a lower level of quota refugees from 5,000 people per year to 900. The authority is also tasked with prioritizing cases of revocation of residence permits.

International information campaign

One piece of news that was presented is that an international information campaign about the “paradigm shift” in Sweden’s migration policy is to be launched. It must give an account of what Swedish migration policy looks like, and what it will look like.

– It includes, among other things, that an information package must be sent to foreign authorities and other authorities with foreign contact points, says Maria Malmer Stenergard and continues:

– Targeted information must also go to foreign editorial offices and news agencies.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that two-thirds of the refugees who come to Europe lack reasons for protection.

– If refugees who will still be forced to return receive information about which regulations apply here, then we reduce the risk of suffering for these people. And we can focus to a greater extent on those who really have protection reasons, she says.

“Underestimating the value of information”

Why would foreign media want to report on Sweden’s legislation?

– I think that the value of information is underestimated, both to people who might consider moving to Sweden and to those who work with this. Refugee smuggling is a billion dollar industry, they have an interest in knowing where to get protection and where it is most favorable to end up. So it will not be a problem to reach out with the information, because so many are interested in taking part in it, says Henrik Vinge (SD).
