In several rounds, Sweden has expanded its humanitarian, military and financial support to Ukraine. Since February 2022, Sweden has contributed over SEK 25 billion to various efforts to support the country.

On Friday, Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) presented the 14th aid package to Ukraine in a live press conference from Rosenbad.

– It could be a long war and therefore we need our support both long-term and sustainable, says Pål Jonson.

The message: 2.2 billion

Now Sweden will invest another 2.2 billion kroner in aid to Ukraine. The bulk of the donation consists of 155 millimeter artillery ammunition – something that is high on Ukraine’s wish list.

– The package also includes spare parts for previously donated systems, it mainly deals with combat vehicles 90, says Mikael Oscarsson (KD).

Protective vests, automatic carbines, night sights and off-road vehicles are also included in the donation.

In addition, Sweden will contribute with communication equipment and an extended participation in Interflex, which trains Ukrainian soldiers in Great Britain.

It may also be relevant to donate or export the fighter plane Jas Gripen, something that the defense forces have been tasked with investigating.
