The miners place higher demands Give us higher wages

It is dark underground. One kilometer down in the Kiruna mine, where employees spend their working days, it is difficult to recognize themselves. One thing is clear, they work for one of Sweden’s most profitable companies, LKAB.

The mining business LKAB, which is located in Kiruna, reported a profit of SEK 8.7 billion last year.

In an interview with Today’s News says an employee in the mine that they have not seen the same development in their salary – and that it is a pity that the company has not adapted to neither inflation nor the development within the company.

Trade union involvement exists in several places, where workers express frustration that their demands for higher wages have not been met. Despite this, there is a concern about pushing employers too hard, as competitiveness must be taken into account.

At the same time, the situation is compared with other Nordic countries, where industrial workers receive higher wage increases, which raises questions about why Sweden is behind when it comes to rewarding its workers.

– I understand that you can’t put as much as possible, then there will be problems with us getting too expensive and then other companies come in and take our jobs, but I still think we should have a substantial increase now, says an employee in the interview with Dagens Nyheter.
