Finland starts the second day of the international match in Stockholm only a little behind. In women, Sweden leads with 114.5–112.5 points and in men 104–101.
SE woman who ran to a clear victory in the women’s 1,500 meters with a race record of 4:09.32 Sara Lappalainen also plays a big role on the second day of the international match. In the women’s 800 meters he, Eveliina Määttänen mixed Veera Mattila has the seams for a triple win.
Lappalainen, who has left various adversities behind and returned from almost a year’s break at the Kaleva Games in Lahti, has competed little this season. Competing on consecutive days may cause some question marks.
Lappalainen himself exudes confidence.
– There is no problem. I’m a steel worker, Lappalainen acknowledged.
Lappalainen always lights up in the national team shirt. However, the 32-year-old woman who ran to double victories at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium last year gave a thorn in the direction of the Swedish audience.
– It was nice to run. This is nowhere near the same atmosphere as in Helsinki. Not as great a stadium either, Lappalainen sneered after his 1,500 meter victory.
A very tough racing year
While Lappalainen is looking for good races after a long competition break, respectively To Reetta Hurskee a race break will really be needed.
Hurskee’s season ended with a victory at the national meet with a time of 13.04. So you won’t see him in Tampere’s Pyrinnö colors in the SM messages held next week.
Hurske’s competition year has been really heavy in terms of load. Even the hall season was long as far as the Games were concerned.
However, for Hurskee, the wonderful winter culminated happily in the 60-meter hurdles European championship.
Two months after that, the Finnish paddler was already competing in the Diamond League competition in Doha. The outdoor track season has therefore lasted no less than four months.
– Quite a few months are behind us. The seats are not in great condition either. The mind also needs rest.
Hursketta has been troubled by a small hip problem all summer.
– There is nothing bigger about it. There are probably small muscle tensions that irritate the hip.
Important MM halls
