The meteorologist: That’s how long the cool summer weather will last

Those who had expected a hot high summer have probably been disappointed by the recent low temperatures. And in some places it has been extra cold. – At night, in some places we have measured temperatures that fell just above zero. I have also received a report that there was ground frost near Sälenfjällen, says Ulrika Elvgren. And most people who measure the rainfall outside on their lawns will be able to empty their pipes in the next week. – There could possibly be a monthly amount in the western parts of Götaland with upwards of 70 millimeters, says Ulrika Elvgren. Not unusual with a lot of rain And for those who still have their holiday around the corner, it might be good not to have too high hopes for sun and swimming. – It may not be a vacationer’s highest dream, but there are a lot of people who still appreciate these temperatures for physical work, says Ulrika Elvgren. That it rains a lot at this time of year is not really unusual. – We are in the period when we actually have the most precipitation in the shortest time. It often rains a lot this time of year. But, there are glimmers of light in some parts of the country, a little now and then. – Some places have intermediate days and still get sun and a bit over 20 degrees, more normal Swedish summer weather, says Ulrika Elvgren. No high pressure in sight Later in the week, low pressure moves in over the country and it can be windy on the west coast. But otherwise it is difficult with details, says Ulrika Elvgren. – Most rain showers are concentrated in the front zone and above all in Västra Götaland and to the north there is a little more sporadic rain. But there are a lot of clouds in the sky everywhere. According to the meterologist, the low pressure will last. – It can last into August. And I don’t see any stable high pressure in sight either, she says.
