The meteorologist on the wet and unstable weather: “Sees no end”

Changeable weather has marked the month of July in most parts of the country, and the unsettled weather looks set to follow into August. According to TV4’s meteorologist Ulrika Elvgren, the next week will be quite rainy.
– We are stuck in this weather situation and I currently see no end to it, she says.

During the past week, some stations recorded more than 100 millimeters of rain, and in the coming week we will probably see the same records – especially around Västernorrland, Medelpad and Ångermanland, says Ulrika Elvgren.

– Here you can probably have a rather rainy week as we have rainy weather and showers that go in the same direction, she says.

It is sad news for those who yearn for the sun – how will the low pressure move in the future?

– We have an extensive area of low pressure over the northern British Isles and that is what will move in over us and actually park over us as we move into the month of August.

– We have had intermediate days in many places in the country, but we are gradually moving towards increasingly unsettled weather again. The low pressure that is spinning in over us, which is over Jutland until Wednesday, will come in and settle over Scandinavia and give us showers in circulation in many places, and will be strongest during the days.

“Not uniformly gray every day”

As we enter week 32, another deep low pressure will arrive, and even though it is relatively far ahead, there is no stable weather in sight, says Ulrika Elvgren.

Can you trust the weather forecasts when the weather is so changeable?

– You have to look outside but also compare many apps with each other because everyone shows different, especially when we have showers in circulation. You can expect days with typical mid-day weather, so it’s not uniformly gray every day. But it is very variable and somewhat typical for our latitudes.
