On September 11, SVT reported that Kaunis Iron, which operates an iron ore mine, is forced to notify employees. Now comes the news that at least 50 of the 400 who work within the group will lose their jobs.
The negotiations with Metall have been completed and 10 employees will be dismissed due to a lack of work.
Kaunis Iron AB has also concluded the negotiations on redundancy among white-collar workers, which means that the new organization will have 49 fewer positions.
“One of the hardest decisions”
The next step will be to start negotiations on which employees must leave the mining company.
– This is one of the most difficult decisions we have had to make since the restart of mining operations in 2018, but it is necessary, says Klas Dagertun.
According to the company, the reductions are being made to secure mining operations in Tornedalen.
