When Viktor Ekbom was recruited to Frölunda from Örebro a few years ago, it was difficult to understand what success it would be. Ekbom may not have been the most prominent player, but he has rarely made a bad match, and has been a cog in all years.

In total, Ekbom can look back on the years in Gothenburg with three titles won: Partly SM gold 2019, but also the CHL title the same year, and also the following year. Today came the news that Ekbom not only chooses to leave Frölunda – but also his career as a hockey player.

– Viktor chooses to end his career and we wish him all the best in the future, says Frölunda’s sports director Fredrik Sjöström in a press release.

In total, there were 154 matches during his four years in Frölunda for Ekbom, who is highly praised for his efforts in the club. In total, the defensive back accounted for 25 points for FHC.

During his career, Viktor Ekbom has also managed a total of six matches for Tre Kronor, and also foreign games in the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Penguins in the AHL, as well as Tappara in Finland and EHC Munich in Germany. In the SHL, there were games for Linköping, Oskarshamn, Örebro and finally Frölunda – divided into 502 matches.
