A column of vehicles crosses the camp. The members of the Security Council are there. Nicolas de Rivière, representative of France on the Security Council, sleeve up, is particularly touched by what he sees, namely women, children, old people living under tarpaulins, lacking almost everything : “It is a spectacle of desolation. The Security Council came here to assess the situation. He will draw consequences. We are also here to express a message of solidarity with all the Congolese people. Today is a field visit focused on the humanitarian response. We want the humanitarian response to be improved. It depends on the United Nations and it also depends on the Congolese authorities. They must give more access and more sites to the United Nations “, he underlines.

The visit over, Jeanine, a mother, is now waiting for the promises to come true: “ We are waiting. When they return home, we hope they will speak with their colleagues, so that everything is done, so that we can return home “. Hundreds of other displaced people left the neighboring city of Saké and arrived again this morning around Goma.
