Sotkamo Jymy’s men held on to third place in the final round of the Superpesis regular season by beating Manse PP, who secured the second regular season win in their club history, 1–0 (0–0, 6–2).
– There were tired teams on the field. After all, it was a special preparation for the game when I drove 500 kilometers behind the wheel of my own car. Everything showed fatigue. There wasn’t the sharpest curve, and there was no quality in the punches. Now, fortunately, you can stay at home for a couple of days and see who will come against you on Sunday, comments Mansen, who locked in the regular season winner Juha Puhtimäki.
After the upper continuation series, Kouvola’s Pallonlöjät are in second place, beating fifth-placed Kempele Kirin 1–0 (1–1, 7–2). The joker of hosts Patrik Wahlsten hit four runs from his nine home runs and with his last strike of the game became the batting king with 2+99. Eemeli Laine brought the winning run from second base after Wahlsten’s hit went through the triple line.
Vimpelin Veto, which finished fourth, beat Kiteen Pallo 2-0 (3-1, 13-0). Veto will meet Kempeleen Kiri in the quarterfinals. Jymy’s opponent is Joensuu’s Maila.
Mansen won the kingship of the vanguard Severi Tikkakoski (59) and Vedon of the top batting statistic Elmeri Anttila (201).
Hamina and Alajärvi for a rematch
The most intense match of the lower continuation series was between Hamina Palloilijai and Alajärvi Ankkurii. HP’s home loss after the home game 1–2 (0–2, 3–1, 1–3) meant that the teams ended up tied for last place. Since the jumbo team is directly relegated, HP and AA will play a rematch on a neutral ground.
Hyvinkää Tahko knocked Imatra’s Pallo-Veikot out of their league position by beating IPV 2–0 (3–2, 10–2). IPV and the winner of the HP and AA rematch play a series of matches, the loser of which has to be eliminated from the series against the winner of Ykköspesis.
Pattijoki’s Urheilijat beat Seinäjoki’s Jymy-Jussit 2–1 (8–2, 2–4, 1–0), but even a point ensured Seinäjoki’s last place in the playoffs.
The playoffs begin with the quarter-finals. Tahko and PattU and KiPa and Jymy-Jussie’s match series can be continued with two wins.
