The team from Tampere has won all of its periods in the men’s Superpesis playoffs.
Manse PP’s men’s team, which won the Superpesis regular season, continues in the playoffs with a clean record. Tampere beat Kempeleen Kiri in the semifinals with a clear 3–0 win, even though Sunday’s third match ended in a seemingly narrow home win in Kaup 2–0 (3–1, 1–0).
– It’s nice to reach the finals, but this is still very much in the middle. We played poorly inside today, but the outside game is in such freezing condition that we are already in the finals because of that. We were only doing what was necessary, and we have to learn from it, so that it won’t happen again, described Mansen’s manager from Sotkamo Jani Komulainen In an interview with Ruutu.
Manse didn’t just beat Pattijoki Athletes in the quarterfinals and KeKi in the semifinals with a 3–0 win. The people of Tampere have even won all 12 episodes they played in the playoffs. Manse from Raahela defeated KeKi by 27–6 and KeKi by 29–8.
In the final matches starting next weekend, Manse will have the home advantage, they will meet Jymy of Sotkamo, who lead their semi-final series 2–1, or Ballonlyöjät of Kouvola.
Tikkakoski’s speed is poison for KeKi
In the opening period, Manse only did what was necessary. Joker Perttu Ruuska hit the winning run of the period in Mansen’s opening inning with a hook shot to the second line. Severi Tikkakoski humiliated the visiting team as a forward by escaping from the triple net with a header Teemu Holland limp in the backfield.
It didn’t take longer than the opening period to see the winning run in the second period. Elmeri Lieto after his substitution shot, sank an irresistible second overtime goal, sending Tikkakoski home (at 5/6). The hosts’ first keeper Simo Vainikainen had the honor of ending the streak with a spectacular shot in KeK’s filling situation.
– We fought and hung in there. Not much was given with gifts, but the inside game did not open up. We were so bad in this series that there was nothing left to worry about, comments KeKin, who is chasing SM medal number 14 Sami Haapakoski42.
Mansen locker Juha Puhtimäki recorded an impressive 10/13 hitting record in the semifinal series.
