When Steven Spielberg calls a film a masterpiece, this is it highest award, which you can get in Hollywood. After all, we are talking about the director who has created numerous masterpieces over the course of his career, from ET – The Extra-Terrestrial to AI – Artificial Intelligence.

At a screening of Killers of the Flower Moon, Spielberg pulled out the masterpiece title. In Los Angeles, Martin Scorsese’s new film was presented to the members of the Directors Guild of America shown. Afterwards there was a conversation between Spielberg and Scorsese in which the film was discussed in more detail.

In the 36-minute conversation, which you can watch in full on the Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg gives the Admiration for his director colleague not back. Apparently Killers of the Flower Moon really blew him away. He shares the following words with Scorsese.

For me, watching your film is an extraordinary experience. You know I think very highly of all your films, but [Killers of the Flower Moon] stands out to me in a very powerful way. For me it is [der Film] an epic journey, but not a Hollywood epic. It is a humanitarian epic.

In the end, Spielberg unwraps the greatest compliment.

It is very touching to see Spielberg and Scorsese in this dialogue. Two greats of cinema for whom nothing is taken for granted. The entire conversation is full of curiosity and depth Insights into the art of filmmaking. Few people can tell stories so impressively in moving images.

Killers of the Flower Moon is based on true events and takes place in the 1920s, where several Members of the Osage tribe murdered in cold blood became. The motive: oil, land and money. Scorsese tells the story in 206 minutes and focuses on the marriage between the Osage woman Mollie (Lily Gladstone) and the veteran Ernest (Leonardo DiCaprio), who is directly involved in the gruesome murders.
