The Marvel flop that Ryan Reynolds didnt recover from until

Ryan Reynolds did it. Deadpool will soon be part of the MCU. But the road was long and painful. His disastrous Marvel debut is on TV today. Blade: Trinity was a nasty critic flop with speculation of ugly on-set arguments. It was only 12 years later that the star was able to straighten out his spoiled start.

On TV: Ryan Reynolds’ Marvel flop fell flat with the critics

When it was released in cinemas in 2004, it rained non-stop. At Metacritic, the third action hit about the merciless long-toothed vampire hunter (Wesley Snipes) has a sobering 38%. The Washington Post considered the film to be ready to be buried in a vat of garlic.According to Roger Ebert “the film lacks a clear story” and he “bogs down too quickly in swappable battle scenes“. The Marvel blockbuster was also not a success at the box office (via Box Office Mojo).

The story about a resurrected Dracula (Dominic Purcell) is not boring on paper. Set difficulties may have contributed to the bottom line. Snipes wanted, according to actor Patton Oswalt not communicating with his co-stars or the director (via AV Club).

Reynolds would have imagined his heroic debut as human vampire hunter Hannibal King differently. His martyrdom of Marvel flops didn’t end with the vampire action, though. Also his appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was savaged by criticism. Only with the first Deadpool 12 years later was he granted success. And hopefully it will last for a long time.

When will the action hit Blade: Trinity with Ryan Reynolds be on TV?

Blade: Trinity is running tonight at 10:55 p.m. on Kabel 1. If you don’t have time, you can catch up on the film on July 6, 2022 at 1:15 a.m.
