The market trader is moved during the festival – must pay SEK 4,500

Anders Gustafsson, who pays around SEK 25,000 in annual rent for his place on the square, has temporarily left his place during all the years there have been sails or archipelago parties. At no extra cost.

– There have been no problems and I have not had to pay anything for it, he says.

The archipelago party

  • Aspödagen: “This really is the Aspö spirit”

  • But that was not the case this year. Not only did Anders Gustafsson have to move his stalls, he also had to pay an extra SEK 4,500 to stand on Ronnebygatan and sell. And only with half as much space as otherwise.

    – Sales are halved when we stand here and that means significantly more work and toil when we don’t arrive with the car in the same way, says Anders Gustafsson.

    The event company: “Be clear”

Behind the decision is the event company Paraply, which organizes the Archipelago Festival on behalf of Karlskrona municipality.

    – The municipality has in its agreement with the traders that they can be moved during events, says Johanna Mazetti at Paraply.

Since the municipality has not only leased the main square to Paraply, but also the location on Ronnebygatan, Paraply can charge a fee for a trader to be allowed to stand there. For the festival area, Paraply pays a total of SEK 75,606 in rent to the municipality.

    – Ordinary market traders get a discounted price, she says and continues:

    – We have been clear in our communication and this has been approved by the municipality.
