Manchester United were humiliated by Brentford at the weekend.
After the match, coach Erik ten Hag was disappointed to say the least and punished his players properly.
The Manchester club has really had a tough start to the season. They lost the opener at Old Trafford by 2 goals to 1 against Brighton, and this weekend’s game against Brentford was another step in the wrong direction.
Was humiliated
United had a real nightmare start to the match and when the referee blew for half-time, the “Red Devils” were 4-0 down. This after several goals from goalkeeper David de Gea, which Brentford made the most of.
In the second half, Manchester United could not get up and there were no more goals at the Gtech Community Stadium. After the match, coach Erik ten Hag was furious, and according to the British press, the Manchester United players were severely punished for the lackluster effort.
Hard punishment
It is The Times that writes that ten Hag was thoroughly upset in the dressing room after the match and called the performance a “shitty effort”.
But not enough of that. The newspaper further writes that the entire team was forced to run 13.5 kilometers in the heat wave (around 30 degrees). Just as far because that was the distance Brentford ran further than Manchester United during the match.
It is also reported that the management staff were worried before the match. Apparently, the training week consisted of brash efforts and Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly spread a bad mood in the group.
