The man suspected of murder remains in custody – judgment in three weeks

What actually happened at the cottage by a lake in the Kramfor region at the beginning of October last year has not been able to be determined with 100 percent certainty, either in the police preliminary investigation or in the courtroom.

The prosecutor’s side relies on the collected evidence, and the coroner’s report, whose conclusion is that Liselotte drowned through, quote, “the handiwork of another”.

Liselotte’s body, which a week after the disappearance was found below a rock ledge three kilometers from the 46-year-old’s cabin, also had injuries that in some cases – according to the autopsy report – were caused by blunt external force.

Believe in appeal

The man has always stuck to his denial of the murder charges. His defender, lawyer Per Näslund, pointed to several alternative explanations for what happened, and said that the prosecutor’s chain has flaws.

– But it was expected that the prosecutor would seek a life sentence, Per Näslund told SVT after the conclusion of the main hearing.

He also believes that the district court’s verdict, regardless of the outcome, will not be final in the case.

– I think this will be decided in the Court of Appeal regardless of how the district court rules, he says.

The verdict in the case will be announced in three weeks, on May 5.
