The makers of The Day Before say it was a good game – if only it hadn’t been for those Twitch streamers

The Day Before was once the most wanted game on Steam, but its development was marred by disagreements and litigation. A month after the game’s death and the studio’s closure, the developers released a statement blaming Twitch streamers for the failure.

What is the current situation with The Day Before? On January 22nd, the lights were turned off in the scandal game: the servers were shut down barely a month and a half after release – certainly sad news for the one remaining active player.

But now, more than a month after the disastrous launch and the studio’s closure, the developers of The Day Before are suddenly speaking out again. In a statement posted on Fntastic’s official X account on January 24th, content creators are blamed for the game’s failure (via 3D Juegos).

GameStar’s colleagues discussed The Day Before in detail in the talk and even spoke to a lawyer about the supposed “fraud of the year”.

The promised features were all there, you just don’t remember them

What do the developers say? In their statement, the makers of the scandal game once again assert that they worked “hard and honestly” on The Day Before for 5 years. The team “gave 100% everything” to make the game a success.

The studio rejects allegations that the finished game did not live up to the trailers and was more of a kind of extraction shooter than a survival MMO. “We included everything seen in the trailers, from house furnishings to a detailed world to off-road vehicles.”

Only a few “smaller features” were removed at launch due to bugs, according to Fntastic. However, the missing features should be included in the full release.

Then why did the game fail? The developers have a clear answer to this: the mean content creators on Twitch and YouTube are to blame. Some “bloggers” made a lot of money by spreading falsehoods about the game with lurid titles right from the start, the statement says.

Due to the initial popularity of “The Day Before,” it led to a veritable gold rush among content creators who duped potential players, according to Fntastic.

Have you played the game yourself and can’t remember all the great features? Well, this is also the fault of the numerous Twitch streamers and YouTubers who spoke negatively about The Day Before. Because they would have created negative prejudices among the players and thereby shifted their focus.

In fact, ratings had already improved over the first weekend after launch after some bugs were fixed, according to Fntastic. The developers also claim that they received messages from players who felt betrayed by the “bloggers” and who rated the game positively.

We would like to thank these players for their support – maybe it will also help with the new project that the studio founders are supposedly already planning.
