With No Rest for the Wicked, the makers of Ori and the Blind Forest (Steam, Xbox, Switch) are taking a completely new direction and venturing into the ARPG genre à la Diablo 4.
What kind of game is this? No Rest for the Wicked is an ARPG that was presented with a trailer by developers Moon Studios at the Game Awards. They are known for Ori and the Blind Forest and its successor Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
The games are ranked 3rd to 5th among the best Metroidvanias on Steam and, in addition to their gameplay, are particularly impressive because of their appearance – “beautiful to cry,” Mirco Kampf once headlined in his test at GameStar.
However, working at Moon Studios isn’t supposed to be nice. The colleagues from GameStar reported.
With No Rest for the Wicked they are now taking a completely new direction and want “that [Action-Rollenspiel] “reinvent,” as it says on the brand new Steam page. The game will still be beautiful with its hand-drawn world. See for yourself:
Players fight as holy warriors in a torn land
What is known so far? On Steam, No Rest for the Wicked promises to be a “relentless, precise action role-playing game.” The tone is much more adult and darker than the Ori games.
Players are supposed to take on the role of so-called Cerim and fight an unholy plague called Pestilence. But it’s not just the pestilence that’s troubling the country, there’s also a battle raging between rebels who are rebelling against the government’s slavery and their oppressors.
The focus of No Rest for the Wicked should be entirely on brutal fights and the plot. You should also be able to experience the world of the action RPG in online co-op with up to 3 friends.
These are the first reactions: On YouTube, where the reveal trailer was published, the mood is positive. Some users are celebrating No Rest for the Wicked as the best game presented at the Game Awards.
Fans of the Ori games and the studio are especially excited to see what unique spin the developers might have in store for the ARPG genre.
