A clear majority of voters who sympathize with the Collection Party, the True Finns and the Center would vote for Alexander Stubb if the second round of the presidential election in Finland were held today. Stubb would get 53 percent of the vote, according to a poll commissioned by Uutissuomalainen.

The rival Pekka Haavisto would get 47 percent and then mainly from red-green sympathizers.

According to Professor Ilkka Ruostesaari at the University of Tampere, the battle is now intensifying before the second round of elections on Sunday.

– Haavisto has tried to flirt with the central and rural voters in hearings, but based on this opinion poll, it doesn’t seem to be biting very well, he says.

A total of 1,000 Finns were questioned in the survey, which was conducted between January 30 and February 5. Of these, 822 responded. The total margin of error among all was 3.1 percentage points.
