In August 2022, Jason Momoa revealed the first details about the story of the Aquaman sequel. Here’s what he told GQ Magazine:

“Aquaman is the most made fun of superhero. But it’s fantastic that we can create awareness about what’s happening to our planet. It’s not a story told over and over again, but a film about what’s happening right now, but in a fantasy world.”

It was also confirmed that the film made reference to climate change. The magazine also learned in the interview that there was a scene in which Arthur Curry gives a big speech to the UN in which he warns of a huge catastrophe.

And that’s exactly how the film Aquaman 2 ends, with a speech at the UN. In this, Arthur Curry reveals the existence of Atlantis to people and ends his speech with an Iron Man reference.

As Screenrant explains, it may very well be that the scene that was already revealed in the interview was not yet planned as the end of the film at the time.

Because Aquaman 2 went through some changes during production, as James Wan, the film’s director, revealed.

The reason for this was the new DC Universe. For example, scenes in which the two Batman actors Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton would have been seen were also cut out.

Jason Momoa could not only have become Aquaman, but also a hero in the MCU: Aquaman turned down a cool role in one of the best Marvel film series because he didn’t want to be the “shirtless guy” again
