This year’s results show that there are 8.33 family groups of lynx in Kronoberg County, which corresponds to 46 lynx. This means a sharp increase compared to last year’s 4.5 family groups. The lynx’s various family groups are now found all over the county except in the far west.
– This year’s inventory result is the highest we have ever had. It is clear that the lynx in the county are doing well, and that last year’s break from the increasing trend was a temporary exception, says the county administrative board’s predator handler Elin Åkelius in a press release.
The county’s wildlife management delegation has decided that if the bill exceeds five family groups, it will enable the County Administrative Board to make a decision on license hunting for lynx. A possible decision will not be made until the autumn of 2022.
