The Louvre welcomes rare icons exfiltrated from a Ukrainian museum

16 Byzantine icons exfiltrated from the Khanenko Museum in kyiv arrived in Paris last month. Five of them are shown to the public from this Wednesday in a specially equipped room. These icons of great rarity (there are only about ten of this type left in the world) are dated from the 4th to the 7th century. They have been the subject of a special preservation operation carried out by the Ukrainian authorities, the Louvre Museum and the Aliph Foundation, which specializes in the preservation of endangered heritage in countries at war.
