The leader of the notorious Spanish-based criminal gang Los Suecos is sentenced by the district court, for two cases of extremely serious drug smuggling and several other drug-related crimes linked to Sweden. The 27-year-old is sentenced to 12 years in prison and lifelong deportation.
The 27-year-old has been charged with particularly serious drug smuggling, attempted serious drug crime, serious drug crime, particularly serious weapons crime and serious smuggling.
The gang leader admitted during the trial that he participated in a drug deal with over 50 kilos of cocaine, which was smuggled into Denmark and Sweden. A drug deal worth over SEK 10 million. The crimes could be investigated after the police cracked the encrypted app Encrochat, where the 27-year-old was found to be behind two users who organized the drug trade.
– I have chosen to admit that I am the user behind Slickshrub and Marvelmatch. I’m tired, I want to get an end and be able to move on with my life, said the accused gang leader during the district court hearing, writes South Sweden.
At the same time, the man has denied any crime regarding some of the other criminal suspicions.
Terror in Spain
For several years, the criminal gang Los Suecos spread terror on Spain’s sunny coast. The Swedish gang, with members from Malmö, has been behind explosions, shootings and murders in Spain and several members have previously been convicted of acts of violence.
The 27-year-old leader was convicted last year of having organized two murders in Spain, before he was arrested and extradited to Sweden.
District Court: 12 years in prison and deportation
The Los Suecos leader is convicted on all counts related to drug crimes.
“The district court has assessed that the man should be sentenced to the maximum prison sentence of 14 years. Since the present offense was committed before the Spanish sentence, the sentence served in Spain must be taken into account to some extent as part of the serving of the present offence. The district court therefore determines the sentence to 12 years in prison. The district court has also decided that the man should be deported without a time limit,” writes the district court in a press release.
At the same time, he is acquitted of charges of serious smuggling and particularly serious weapons possession. It is not proven that the weapons were transported to Sweden, writes the district court.
