Isildur, Elrond, Galadriel and Sauron. These figures are intended to become the main cornerstones of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Most often, however, the story will turn to Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) if you take the impression of the previous trailers seriously. The decision to choose the Elven leader as the main character is at the same time brave, extremely difficult and in the end maybe even right. Or she breaks the neck of the Amazon series.
Galadriel is an almost impossible Lord of the Rings legacy for the Amazon series
Galadriel is one of the most important characters in the revered Lord of the Rings films, with her portrayal by Cate Blanchett considered by many to be a highlight of the first trilogy. She puts the figure with all its characteristics together into an iconic whole. wisdom, love, responsibility, one constant fear for the future and a touch of megalomania connect in her. The complexity of the character is a ton of legacy for the series.

Many Lord of the Rings fans are suspicious of the Amazon Galadriel
With Morfydd Clark’s version of Galadriel, Amazon has now taken a difficult path, if the trailer material so far is to be believed. Here is the elf heroine stubborn, bitter, fearful, impulsive and generous. And above all she is young.

Morfydd Clark as Galadriel
Some Lord of the Rings fans worry about Clark’s youthful looks a Lord of the Rings in the Young Adult version. A young heroine experiences wonders and adventures in the world, falls in love, fights, and grows up in the process. The idea is a nightmare, especially for fans of Blanchett’s Galadriel.
Morfydd Clark’s Rings of Power character has immense potential
Clark’s character is unquestionably different in characteristics from her predecessor, but she’s also very prolific as a character. She is a hardened war veteran. Brutality and viciousness made them suspicious. She lost her brother. And yet she is driven by love for her environment. That’s where the series has to start.
She must not stop at portraying an inexperienced Galadriel “only” a few thousand years young. She has to take Blanchett’s character as the ending point. It must combine eons of experience and youthful impulse, vision with stubbornness, warriorship and a need for peace.
The fantasy heroine has to fail a lot in the Amazon series
At the same time, she must not be too reverent. A copy of the theatrical version does no one any favours. Galadriel as a precocious youngster is superfluous and puts the richness of the new figure drawing to shame. The series will have to show Galadriel’s depths.

Cate Blanchett as Galadriel
She must show her unjust anger, her bloodthirsty brutality, her superior intelligence, her aloof beauty, her contemptuous integrity. Only if Clark’s Galadriel keeps failing and growing on herself, viewers will take her for an authentic young Elven melody. Amazon could build a bridge to the film series and give popularity to its main character. The rest is child’s play.
