The neurosurgery operation, which is performed by imaging with ‘metaverse’ technology, which is applied in only a few centers around the world, started to be applied at Ankara University İbni Sina Hospital about a year ago. Thanks to the mixed augmented reality technology, the location of the tumor in the brain tissue of the patients can be determined by point shooting. With the patient’s pre-operative MRI and tomography data, the anatomical structure, tissues and vascular structure of the brain are modeled in 3D by artificial intelligence. Thanks to technology that reduces operation times, doctors can examine regions of the brain that cannot be seen with the naked eye in 3D with virtual reality glasses.
6TH SURGICAL INTERVENTION WAS PERFORMED
Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Head of Neurosurgery Department Prof. Dr. Şükrü Çağlar, faculty members Assoc. Dr. İhsan Doğan, Assoc. Dr. Onur Özgüral, Assistant Professor. Dr. Murat Zaimoğlu and Assistant Professor. Dr. The 6th surgical intervention was performed by the team, including Eyüp Bayatlı, using the aforementioned technology. The tumor in the brain of a 50-year-old female patient was surgically removed. Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar also watched the surgical intervention.
‘THE WORLD’S ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES ARE USED’
prof. Dr. Stating that the operating room of the Department of Neurosurgery of Ünüvar has undergone a renovation process for about 2 years, he said, “Our operating room has really gained an extraordinary opportunity. The most advanced technologies in the world are used by our competent instructors in the surgeries here. Virtual reality is a part of science and information technologies that have entered our lives recently. It is an important achievement that it comes together in. It is also used in many fields in medicine. We know and believe that we have one of the best neurosurgery clinics in Turkey. When both the new technological possibilities of the operating room and the current technological developments meet with highly qualified academicians, it is indeed extremely beneficial in terms of health and science. It brings with it a significant gain,” he said.
Stating that innovations in medicine are for a safe and comfortable life, Prof. Dr. Şükrü Çağlar said that they are always looking to provide better treatment to patients and that mixed virtual reality technology is very beneficial in treatment and medical education.
