The person who messed with the piece, which is one of Denmark’s most famous attractions, has not yet been caught. The statue has been broken and messed up numerous times over the years.

The Little Mermaid statue, one of Copenhagen’s most popular tourist attractions, has been vandalized again.

Early this morning it was noticed that someone had painted three large stripes of color on the stone that is the base of the statue. The white, blue and red stripes together formed the Russian flag.

Later in the day, Copenhagen police said they had searched the area around the statue to find signs of the vandal. So far, however, the perpetrator or perpetrators have not been found.
