The list of metro stations you need to know to avoid struggling in Paris with a stroller

The list of metro stations you need to know to

It is not uncommon to see a young mother struggling in the metro hoping that a good soul will come and help her carry the stroller up the stairs. If you have a child and you venture into the Paris metro, take a look at the stations suitable for PRMs, with an elevator, and those – to avoid – which do not even have an escalator.

Taking public transport is more ecological than the car and is often more practical and quick: you avoid traffic jams, you don’t have to look for a space and you save on parking costs. But when you go to the capital with your baby in your stroller, the trip can quickly turn into an unbearable journey. Especially when it comes to leaving the metro, using the stairs! We have all seen young mothers struggling to get off the train, hoping that someone will come to their aid, carrying part of the stroller up the sometimes endless steps. A precious help when you know the weight of the stroller with baby in it, and the changing bag with all its belongings. So, before even venturing out on transport with Boutchou, we advise you to anticipate by taking note of the best equipped stations (with an elevator or an escalator) and the one to avoid (which only have stairs). Because sometimes it’s better to get out at the next station and walk for five minutes in the fresh air. Here is the list of very easily accessible metro stations, equipped with an elevator or on the ground floor:

Many other metro stations are also easy to access, equipped with at least one escalator or elevator along the entire route between the street and the platform, such as the Quai de la Gare, Aimé Césaire, Aubervilliers Front Populaire, Bagneux Lucie stations. Aubrac, Barbara, Créteil-Pointe du Lac as well as the metro station La Motte Picquet Grenelle, Lamarck-Caulaincourt and Les Agnettes. On the map, the stations in yellow correspond to those which have at least one escalator or elevator, but it is possible to have a few steps on the route.

Finally, metro stations with only stairs (with approximately two floors) are indicated by a white dot. Those with a gray dot should not be used by anyone with reduced mobility or young mothers who take transport with their strollers: the stairs are very high (more than 10 meters).
