After the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February, there has been uncertainty about how much money the British Cross-Country Association will receive in support of Great Britain’s sports federations, according to VG.
Andrew Musgrave and the other national team skaters have been told this week that they are not included in the country’s elite sports program. During this summer’s pre-season, Musgrave cannot afford to pay for trainers.
— We already know now that there will be no national team gatherings this autumn. We must be able to compete, but not a whole World Cup season. And maybe not in the WC in Planica, says the 32-year-old to VG.
Musgrave finished 30th in the men’s overall World Cup standings last season. Compatriots Andrew Young and James Clugnet finished 62nd and 82nd respectively. No British shoes scored World Cup points last season.
“I don’t want to complain because I know that sport is about performance,” says Musgrave.
