It has been a year since Ralf Edström suffered a stroke.
Now the legend talks about the new everyday life after the illness announcement.
– I have to think about it, he says.
There is no doubt whatsoever that Ralf Edström is one of Sweden’s foremost football icons of all time. Among other things, he has won a number of different titles with PSV Eindhoven and has been awarded the Ballon d’Or twice.
Tells about the new everyday life
Ralf Edström, on the other hand, has suffered from several different illnesses in recent years. He was stricken with prostate cancer almost ten years ago, from which he is today completely healthy, as well as plagued by several infections.
And a year ago, Ralf Edström had a stroke. It has meant a completely new everyday life for the football icon, which he now talks about:
– I try to be out and walk every day, but I can’t say that I enjoy it. Put in a podcast like that and listen to it when I go. I don’t understand those who say they enjoy walking, he tells Göteborgs-Posten.
“Has been pretty okay”
Ralf Edström must now take medication for the rest of his life to keep his body and mind intact.
– It has been quite okay. I got away quite easily. At first I thought it was a TIA, because in the morning I saw double. But it turned out to be a stroke on the brain stem and they said I would have to take medication for the rest of my life, he says.
He says he’s a little more tired and doesn’t have as much patience anymore.
– You have to think so you don’t walk into the wall, as they say these days.
