The legend ends his career: "Very grateful"

“I am very grateful for what I have achieved. As hard as it is to write this, I feel happy about the career I have had, and the opportunity to leave the sport I love on my terms. It was not an easy decision, but after listening to my body and talking to my family, I came to the conclusion that this was the right time,” writes the 38-year-old Canadian emotionally in a statement.

Boston made a big impression during the regular season last season, breaking the scoring record. But in the playoffs it stopped already in the first round after a loss in the seventh and absolutely decisive game against the Florida Panthers. Patrice Bergeron was noted for 58 points (27+31) in 78 games.

“I want to thank everyone who has made this possible for me”.
