The lead-heavy loss for Toronto in the NHL playoffs last night – which could be the dream message for Tre Kronor

Alex Nylander has been clear.
After a lead-heavy loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL playoffs last night, Sweden begins to dream.

Sweden has a good team for the hockey WC in Tampere, but almost all experts agree on one thing. There is a lack of that really big star, the one who can decide matches all by himself and lead the team. And it is equally agreed that William Nylander would be the dream name.

Want to play with my brother

The Toronto Maple Leafs star is not one to turn down the World Cup, and he has some great memories in the blue and yellow jersey. The problem: Toronto advanced from the first round of the NHL playoffs for the first time in nearly 20 years, so Nylander isn’t done with the season yet.

But Tre Kronor’s WC squad already includes his brother, Alex Nylander, and he has been open that he and William want to play the WC together, but for that to be possible, an exit in the second round is needed.

– We have talked all the time over the years that we want to play together and that the WC with Tre Kronor is the big chance, Nylander said a few days ago.

Could be a dream message

And last night came another lead-heavy loss for Toronto in the second round against the Florida Panthers. After even events, match three also went to extra time, where the Panthers – who had a big impact in this year’s playoffs – once again drew the longest straw, when they won 3-2. This means that Florida now leads the series 3-0, and Toronto is thus in an almost impossible position to advance.

And that makes Sweden dream. Should Toronto go out – the fourth game will be played on the night of Wednesday – there is therefore a great chance that William Nylander will join Sweden’s World Cup squad.

It’s obvious that all the focus is on the Stanley Cup now and that he doesn’t think about anything else, I hope they win the whole shit. It is if they were to go out in the second round that there is a chance that he could come, but that is not something we hope for. We’ll see if it happens that we play together now or in the future, Alexander Nylander has said.
