The law that will come into force in Iran caused

The “Hijab Law”, which includes compulsory headscarf, which is expected to come into force in Iran in the coming days, has caused reactions in the country.

The law on “promotion of chastity and hijab culture to support the family”, known as the “Hijab Law”, which has been discussed between the Iranian Parliament and the Council of Guardians of the Constitution for a while, is expected to come into force on December 13.

While the law, which includes fines and imprisonment, consists of 72 articles, those who do not comply with the law will be given fines ranging from 71 dollars to approximately 2 thousand 350 dollars.

Those who do not pay the fine within 10 days will not be provided with service in government offices and banks, and will not be able to obtain a passport, vehicle license or driver’s license.

“TAKE CARE OF THE COUNTRY”

There were also reactions from the reformist wing to the Hijab Law, the details of which were revealed to the public yesterday.

Abbas Ahundi, who served as Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urbanization in the cabinet of Hassan Rouhani, wrote a letter to President Massoud Pezeshkian, arguing that Pezeshkian and the people would come face to face with the law in question, and requested the President to veto the law.

Reformist Front Spokesperson Cevad İmam, in his post on his social media account, pointed out the social, economic and security problems in the country and said, “Instead of prioritizing the notification of the hijab and chastity law, take care of the country.” he said.

MORE THAN 500 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES

The demonstrations, which started with the death of Mahsa Emini in police custody, who was detained on September 13, 2022 for violating the mandatory headscarf rule in Iran, lasted for about 4 months and more than 500 people lost their lives.

After a while after the events calmed down, it was observed that some women in metropolitan cities such as Tehran did not comply with the headscarf in public areas, shopping malls, cafes, banks, schools and streets, and this led to the reaction of radical conservative politicians in the country.
