In France, 32,500 new cases of Covid-19 contamination have been identified in the past 24 hours. To deal with this situation, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, announced new measures on Thursday. Among them, the opening of the vaccine booster dose to all adults over 18, five months after the last injection.

During the press conference given by the Minister of Health, there was talk of the famous third dose of vaccine, the wearing of a mask, the health pass. A range of new measures to counter this fifth wave of contaminations which is progressing in a dazzling manner.

  • The third dose is therefore now open to all adults from 5 months after their last injection, from Saturday 27 November.
  • Wearing a mask is compulsory everywhere indoors in places open to the public.
  • From December 15, the health pass for people over 65 is invalid if the recall has not been made within seven months of infection or after the last injection. And from January 15, for French people aged 18 to 64, the health pass will no longer be active either if the reminder has not been made within this same period.
  • The validity period for negative Covid-19 tests has been reduced to 24 hours. Until then, their validity was 72 hours.

In addition, the minister indicated that the possibility of vaccinating children from 5 to 11 years old was being studied. But in any case, that this would not take place before the beginning of 2022.

More than 32,500 new contaminations have been recorded in recent hours, the highest figures since April 24. The government does not plan for the moment either containment or curfew and believes it can pass this wave “without resorting to the most restrictive tools” that some countries neighboring France have already imposed.
