The latest information about Season 6 from Blizzard’s 3-hour live stream

In a 3-hour live stream, Blizzard explained what awaits players in Diablo 4 in Season 6. We will summarize the information for you in 4 minutes.

On October 2nd, Blizzard explained in their YouTube live stream what new content is coming to Diablo 4 with Season 6. They also shared what changes they will make based on feedback on the PTR. The PTR ran at the beginning of September and not all features were well received. Players found: Diablo 4 is simply too strenuous in Season 6.

The developers evaluated the feedback and revised some content. Below you can find out what you can expect in Season 6 after the changes.

The developers explain the new difficulty levels in the video:

Hardly any restrictions on difficulty levels when leveling

What changes in the difficulty levels? A major overhaul is related to the new difficulty levels. After criticism, Blizzard is abolishing the world levels and integrating a new system.

When leveling, there are four difficulty levels (Normal, Hard, Expert, Repentant), all of which you can basically play from level 1 once you have completed the campaign. On the PTR you could only switch to Repentant at level 50, which was criticized. In the endgame there are four levels of torment, which you unlock step by step in the pit.

Monster levels are no longer displayed, they are tied to the difficulty level you are playing on. “Tormented” bosses are then available at all torment levels; the higher the level at which you defeat them, the more loot they drop.

What is changing about the classes? With Season 6, all five classes will get new uniques and new skills. Players have already been able to test both on the PTR. However, some classes and skills performed too poorly, so the developers made adjustments to the classes:

Obducite as the only material for completion

What is changing about the mats? As far as completion (masterworking) is concerned, only the autopsy drops. The other two crafting mats (Ingolith, Niedereisen) will no longer be available. You can get the Obducite in Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes and the Undercity of Vessel of Hatred. Stygian stones are also removed.

From level 1 onwards, only legendary items and uniques drop. Normal, magical and rare items are automatically converted into crafting mats when they drop. Previously, players requested that their loot pets automatically dismantle “useless” loot – like in Diablo 3.

What changes to crafting and loot? The itemization also receives another update. On the PTR, players criticized the fact that you need more luck for everything – the new season changes the loot system for the worse.

Blizzard listens to the criticism and is working on the itemization again. Loot drops will be adjusted and drop rates for individual items will be increased. In addition, normal Legendaries in particular are being reworked so that they remain interesting for longer while you grind the ancestral items. You can then complete normal items 8 times and equip them with new affixes twice using hardening. Ancestral items drop more frequently in Nightmare dungeons and from Tree of Whispers chests.

New world event in Season 6: The Realm Shifter

What seasonal content is there? The developers presented the content of Season 6 in the live stream. The Season of Rising Hate will feature Realmwalkers, a new world event that you can visit regularly. If you defeat him, a portal to a dungeon opens.

  • Every 15 minutes a Realmshifter spawns in a region that changes each time
  • A second realm shifter also spawns near Nahantu once per hour
  • The first Realmwalker to spawn each hour is a task for the Tree of Whispers
  • Every 3 hours the realm shifter that spawns in Nahantu is also a whisper
  • There is also a fresh seasonal trip, a new battle pass and a group finder for all kinds of activities. From Season 6 onwards, you can also mark the waypoint of your “favorite city” as a favorite, to which you will be teleported by default. The dresser is then accessible via the character menu. The Gauntlet and its leaderboards will be removed for the time being.

Season 6 starts on October 8th at 1:00 a.m. our time – at the same time as the first expansion for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred. The base game is also receiving a major update. In concrete terms, this means: You will get new features even if you have not purchased the DLC by then.

With Vessel of Hatred, additional content comes into play, such as a new co-op dungeon, rune words, a new area and the new class, the Spiritborn. You can read more about it here: Diablo 4: Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred appear at the same time – What can I play for free, what costs money?
