The latest Attal-Macron disagreement, the president’s reminder to Edouard Philippe – L’Express

The latest Attal Macron disagreement the presidents reminder to Edouard Philippe

It’s crazy how the dissolution has really clarified everything! This second five-year term is definitely like no other. The Attal government has already fallen, the European elections are barely over when the president decides to call legislative elections. With the result that we know… And some sixty days later, here is Michel Barnier at Matignon. For how long?

More than ever, behind the scenes, some are learning to dodge the tripping, others are familiarizing themselves with the art of conspiracy, in short, everyone is preparing for the post-Emmanuel Macron era with rigor and determination.

Belloubet: the Elysée against Matignon

Nicole Belloubet held a press conference at the end of August before the start of the school year… against the advice of Matignon. The Minister of Education, who would not be opposed to remaining in office in the next government – she too -, obtained a favorable arbitration from the Elysée, which therefore contradicted the wishes of Gabriel Attal. Once again and one last time…

Macron-Cazeneuve: bad education

Bernard Cazeneuve is a well-mannered man. Even as Minister of the Interior, even as Prime Minister, he has always attached importance to punctuality. It is no secret that the President of the Republic, for his part, accumulates delays, some of which have left their mark. During the D-Day commemorations, Emmanuel Macron, as we remember, joined the ceremony in Ver-sur-Mer fifteen minutes after the announced time, making veterans and officials, including King Charles, wait under a blazing sun.

On Monday, September 2, Bernard Cazeneuve was expected by Emmanuel Macron at 8:45 a.m. at the Elysée Palace and the former Prime Minister was probably counting on the early hour of the appointment so as not to have to endure, as at the doctor’s, the wait caused by a previous appointment that overflows or drags on. But the Head of State knows how to surprise his world. It was twenty-five minutes late that he joined the Norman, for an appointment that therefore did not last 1 hour and 15 minutes at all, as we thought. A singular moment, ordinary discourtesy.

Macron-Philippe: the wrong calendar

In front of MPs from his camp, Emmanuel Macron made this little reminder: “In 2014 [trois ans avant la présidentielle de 2017]I was not Minister of Economy. In 2019 [trois ans avant la présidentielle de 2022]there had been neither the Covid crisis nor the war in Ukraine.”

Mathilde Panot weakened at the head of the LFI group

Who said there was no democracy among the Insoumis? It almost cost Mathilde Panot her skin. On July 9, the MP ran for the presidency of the Insoumis parliamentary group, a position she had already held during the previous legislature. For once, she had to face a competing candidacy, not really planned. Loïc Prudhomme, MP for the 3rd constituency of Gironde, threw himself into the adventure and collected 12 votes. And about twenty Insoumis MPs (out of 72) abstained.

Proof that President Panot’s term between 2022 and 2024 was not to everyone’s taste. “It is also a message sent to the rebellious leadership. Being loyal is not being a sheep,” adds an LFI MP. It remains to be seen whether Prudhomme’s maneuver will cost him as much as that of the excommunicated Clémentine Autain, Alexis Corbière and Raquel Garrido…

Raphaël Glucksmann’s new friends

Raphaël Glucksmann has not left, he will soon return to the forefront of the political scene. While all of Paris is agitated by Emmanuel Macron’s Matignon-esque procrastinations, the (almost) happy candidate of Place publique in the European elections is consulting with one and all: the environmentalist Yannick Jadot and the ex-Macronists Clément Beaune and Sacha Houlié, or even several socialist bigwigs who were once close to Olivier Faure and who no longer want him – moreover, the First Secretary and Glucksmann no longer speak to each other.

He is also preparing his political comeback: it will be at the beginning of October, with a big party in Gironde where the same people are invited, but also his friend Aurélien Rousseau, the former Minister of Health who became a member of parliament for the New Popular Front under the banner of Place publique. We will probably come across Karim Bouamrane, the socialist mayor of Saint-Ouen whose name has been circulating for Matignon. Another distinguished guest: the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, who plans to join Place publique! Glucksmann has ambitions for his movement: he wants candidates for the municipal elections, and the anti-Mélenchonist left is more than welcome, as is the other left, the one that does not want/no longer wants Emmanuel Macron. A Macronist from the start admits: “Place publique is a decompression chamber.”

Ciottists and Le Penists sleep in separate rooms

The rumor had circulated in the summer: the deputies of the National Rally and those of the “Right” group chaired by Eric Ciotti were to organize a joint back-to-school event. The idea: to allow the allies to meet, and discuss common avenues of work. They will ultimately sleep in separate rooms.

On August 31, in Levens, Eric Ciotti launched his political movement, the Union of the Right for the Republic, without the presence of Frontist representatives, while Marine Le Pen and her troops will return to parliament on September 14 and 15 in Paris, in the absence of their allies. Same principle for the meetings: no regular joint meeting between the two groups. “We want to assert our independence, and not appear as Le Penist substitutes,” assures a Ciotti MP.
