The late Dragon Ball creators final sci fi series starts today

The science fiction anime Sand Land: The Series starts on March 20, 2024 one of the last projects that the recently deceased Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama worked on, on Disney+ online. According to Anime News Network, the celebrated manga artist not only created the comic that was published in 2000, but most recently contributed his own story to the series as an author.

The first seven episodes will be available simultaneously on the US streamer Hulu and internationally on premiere day appear on Disney+. This first arc also includes footage from last year’s Sand Land animated film. After that, it will continue with a new episode every week until the 13th and final episode.

The humorous anime series is set in a distant, post-apocalyptic future after a great war has destroyed the entire world. In this Dune-like desert world, water is the greatest commodity, but is controlled by the greedy king. While searching for a hidden lake, old Sheriff Rao asks the Demon King for assistance. Instead he sends his diabolical son Beelzebub and his cunning assistant Thief. The trio sets off together dangerous journey through the desertwhere they have to deal with the king’s army alongside dragons and bandits.

The Japanese format is a co-production by the anime studios Sunrise, Anima and Kamikaze Douga. It was directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima, who also directed the film version.

In the week of the Sand Land series launch, the official website of the gigantic announced Macross franchise Another sensation for anime fans (via ANN): In 2024, numerous films and series from the long-standing sci-fi and mecha cosmos will land on Disney+.
