September 8, 2022. In the late afternoon, Prince Charles’ private helicopter lands on the royal estate of Balmoral where he is expected at the bedside of Queen Elizabeth II. A few hours later, at 7:30 p.m., the royal family announced the death of the sovereign, making Charles the new king of England under the name of Charles III.
