This announcement will be long overdue! While Warner France announced that it would arrive “soon”, all seemed lost for French broadcasting, Prime Video and Warner Discovery announced the arrival of the “Warner Pass” in Prime Video. This is a paid subscription that can be found in the Prime Video Channels (in the same way as OCS or MGM for example) in which we can see or review the HBO series that no longer have a drop-off point in France since the end of the agreement between OCS and HBO at the beginning of the year. For this launch Prime Video announces that all French Prime Video subscribers will have access to The Last of Us series at no additional cost from its launch on January 16, 2023 in VF and VOSTFR, the day after the American broadcast. Regarding prices, The Last of Us will therefore be included in the standard Prime Video subscription. The Warner Pass, meanwhile, will begin broadcasting in France in March and has not yet specified its subscription price.

Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, the creator studio of The Last of Us video game, spoke on June 9, 2022 during the broadcast of the Summer Game Fest conference to give some news on future releases around the license. and in particular the future HBO series. He announced there that the filming of the series, carried by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the main roles of Joel and Ellie, ended on June 10. On the production side, HBO has hired Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov to shoot the pilot episode of the series.
