The end of C8 and NRJ12 will cause upheaval in the numbering of TNT channels. The upheavals will start in a few days and only end in September.
The fate of C8 and NRJ12 had been sealed for months. But on Wednesday, the Council of State definitively buried the hopes of the two channels, confirming the decision of the Arcom to withdraw their TNT frequencies from March 1. A death judgment which also means serious upheavals for viewers, who will see the TNT channels waltz until September.
Because in addition to the outright disappearance of C8 and NRJ12 and the arrival of two all new channels to replace them, the authority for regulating audiovisual and digital communication has decided to review a large part of the numbering of channels . The upheavals will start on Saturday March 1, to continue on June 6 and finally end on September 1.
The first step on Saturday will therefore be the disappearance of C8 and NRJ12, which should officially stop issuing Friday, February 28 at midnight. At that moment, TNT channels 8 and 12 should be empty, the two replacement channels did not have to start their broadcast until later. Viewers should be in front of a black screen, an error message or automatically get to the following channels (9 and 13) depending on the scenarios. Contacted, the Arcom could not give us more details when writing these lines.

The two empty channels will not be accessible until June 6, when a new numbering will come into force, as indicated by the authority in a press release Last January. The parliamentary channel and public Senate will recover the canal 8 and Gulli Le Canal 12. But the Arcom wanted to take advantage of it to operate groups of chains by thematic blocks (public channels, info, youth). Several other changes will therefore take place on June 6.
France 4 will recover Canal 4, left free by the withdrawal of Canal+, which also leaves TNT. Will follow a block of news channels: BFMTV will show up to Canal 13, ahead of CNews in 14, LCI in 15 and France Info in 16. Passed CSTAR, which keeps Canal 17, a new channel called T18 will appear on Canal 18. This is the project of the Czech magnate Daniel Kretinsky, which already has many media in France like Elle or Marianne in the group CMI. The chain will bet on documentaries (50% of its grid), cultural debates and programs. She highlights her desire to offer a “peaceful” tone, far from clashes and controversies.
But another channel will remain to be filled: Canal 19, left vacant by the end of France Ô in 2020. And the chain which will complete this void will not arrive until September 1, theoretically ending the changes on TNT. This is Oftv, a project led by the Sipa-Ouest-France group. The chain intends to “highlight the territories” with a program focused on local information, but also entertainment, series and French cinema.
