The largest German Twitch streamer for Destiny 2 remains banned, Bungie gives the reasons

Twitch streamer Luis “Lachegga” was banned from Destiny 2 with his accounts in early July. His claim: It’s a conspiracy. Critics of the game like him are regularly banned by Bungie. After his allegations, Bungie now gave the reasons in a public statement.

Which streamer ban is it? Luis, formerly known as “Lachegga” in the Destiny community, is the largest German Twitch streamer for Destiny 2 and claims to have become a victim of a Bungie conspiracy.

  • Several of Luis’ Destiny accounts were blocked in early July and there is also talk of a Steam ban.
  • His way of speaking bluntly has earned him a loyal following over the years.
  • Some found Luis’ comments on the game unconstructive. MeinMMO user Nikushimi, for example, found in the comments on the topic that “his constant hate and his toxic nature do not work at all and are often far from the goal.”

And it is precisely this toxic behavior in his streams and in the game that has now probably led to him being permanently banned from Destiny 2, according to a recent statement from Bungie.

Luis made these allegations: Critics of the game would be banned by Bungie and thus silenced, according to an accusation from Luis. When Bungie started banning unwanted voices from the community, it was only a matter of time before it finally happened.

  • In other videos, the now former Destiny streamer alleged that other content creators had blasphemed about him in an official Bungie “Streamer Discord”.
  • His ban would also have been “not a normal ban”, but allegedly planned long in advance by other streamers and Bungie’s German community manager.
  • We have summarized the claims he makes about this for you here:

The largest German Twitch streamer on Destiny 2 says: Bungie personally banned him because he is too critical

In an official statement, however, Bungie gave completely different reasons for the ban and did not address these allegations.

Bungie alleges violations of the Code of Conduct

According to Bungie, this is the reason for the ban: Luis received no response or explanation from Bungie Support or the Community Manager after multiple inquiries about the ban.

However, on August 9th, Bungie spoke out publicly, saying via the German Destiny Twitter account that a local creator and streamer was “accused of ongoing violations of the Code of Conduct, including but not limited to harassment of players, other creators, and Bungie employees ‘ was banned.

The ban from Destiny 2 is also final and will probably not be lifted despite Luis’ objection.

This is how Bungie justified the ban on the German Destiny streamer via Twitter

Here’s why Bungie cracks down on violations so hard: In and of itself, criticism of games and developers is not uncommon and often adds to the dialogue and enhancement of the gaming experience. However, Bungie is equally concerned with how these criticisms are voiced and whether respectful boundaries are maintained.

The developer has a strict policy against harassment, personal attacks and bullying. And after the incidents surrounding the harassment of a community manager, it seems that the crackdown is even tougher, consistently removing toxic members and streamers from the Destiny community.

It’s no surprise that Luis is the focus here.

“The biggest German Destiny streamer is just not nice”

What players are saying about the ban: In the comments of various platforms, the guardians discussed at length whether the ban is an unjustified conspiracy by Bungie and its employees and other content creators or a fair decision.

If you then dig deeper and take a look at several screenshots shared by players that allegedly show in-game chats with Luis, you could quickly conclude that Bungie’s decision was correct.

Several players report there about their own experiences with Luis aka “Lachegga # 5427” in Destiny 2 and posted various chat histories with various statements that are to be judged extremely critically.

We ask you to note here: These are just snapshots from Destiny 2’s in-game chat and do not reveal what exactly happened or was communicated beforehand.

Some still stand by Luis and don’t think the ban is right. But most Destiny players welcome it and agree with Bungie’s decision. “There’s a difference between criticism and harassment,” says HonduhDad™.

Many of our readers also emphasized that they think the criticism of Bungie is correct and that one should point out grievances. But here “the tone makes the music”, as our reader Millerntorian comments.

MeinMMO reader Marek writes, for example:

[Luis] knows Destiny 2, so his criticisms are certainly valid. However, he is an arrogant unsympathetic who only oiled around in a way that was hard to take. It’s not a shame that Bungie wants nothing more to do with it.

    comments Marek on MeinMMO

Players and MeinMMO reader Hegh also commented on our July 17 article: “His insults towards players would have resulted in a ban on any platform. I’m amazed that Bungie even let him have it for so long. As a streamer, he is a public figure and his behavior is embarrassing. The only one I agree could have been told the reason for the ban […].”

Similarly, MeinMMO reader Chris commented: “I don’t even necessarily question whether anyone is against [Luis] has (in various positions) and [ihn] want to punish. I just highly doubt that’s the cause of it all [seine] blatant criticism. I’m much more convinced that [Luis] toxic behavior is the cause [für den Bann] is.”

For Luis himself, these comments about the fact that it’s good that he was banned are only “mental acrobatics at its finest”, as he emphasizes in a video. He argues that he “didn’t know that you can only talk if you say things everyone likes.”

He emphasizes that he also received many other comments that are on his site. And also the player yuki. stands by him and comments on Bungie’s posting as follows:

Strong statement ever. You (Bungie) are so embarrassing, you should invest in better content and anti-cheat than you guys with that [etwas] to put apart. It’s sad that people have been cheating in public for months and nothing has happened!!!!

    writes Yuki. via Twitter

And Destiny player Chris B. comments: “[…] You ignore obvious cheaters, but anyone who creates content for Destiny 2 at all and expresses criticism will be banned with a Discord announcement. … not that it was discussed and planned. You could have given a warning or thought about a chat ban.”

That’s what streamer colleagues say about the Luis ban

These two streamers have already publicly commented on the Luis ban.

This is how German streamers stand by the ban: Bungie’s decision to ban Luis has not only made waves in the German Destiny player community. Well-known German streamer colleagues such as Venero.TV and Nexxoss Gaming have also given public feedback on this.

In his last video, Luis faded in a clip from Nexxoss Gaming, who remained diplomatic and said: “No matter what I say, someone will eventually get mad at me for saying something […] But you also have a lot of resentment and you also have a lot behind you, sometimes in the community and to be honest that’s one of the reasons why I’ve done a lot on my own in recent years.”

The YouTuber Venero.TV, who now hardly streams to Destiny 2, went the opposite way. After the ban became known, he wrote in the comments under one of Luis’ videos:

[…] Dealing with criticism is exhausting. If you ban critics, then there is no criticism. […] If you don’t find everything great and awesome, what [Bungie] separates, you are immediately deported. For me it was over with the free packages, events or community meetings. But you can still understand that somewhere. And frankly fuck it […] But now remove from the game? WTF, that’s really going too far. What’s next? strike youtube videos How is the game ever going to be good if your head stinks?

the streamer Venero.TV comments on YouTube about the ban on Luis “Lachegga”

How does it go from here? Luis already announced in his first video statement about the ban that he wanted to appeal against Bungie’s decision. For this he asks his supporters for financial help. As you can see from the video, he has already received donations from players.

Ultimately, the situation remains controversial. On the one hand, streamers and content creators in particular have been shown to have a major impact on the player base and perception of a game, and therefore have a certain responsibility to be role models for positive interactions.

On the other hand, it can be argued that the decisions of game developers and platform operators should not be arbitrary.

What is your opinion on the ban on Destiny 2 streamer Luis and how do you see the balance between freedom of expression, responsibility and fairness in the gaming community? Feel free to discuss with us in the comments.

A new path is beginning not only for Luis. Also for Destiny 2, because the developer is currently preparing for the end of his first saga:
