Streaming services usually try to win new subscribers with elaborate in-house productions. But sometimes it’s enough to have one well-known film series to include in the program. Netflix recently acquired the Fast & Furious films. Amazon Prime, meanwhile, is focusing on the magical world of Harry Potter.
All Harry Potter films have been available on the streaming service since the beginning of December. The fantasy adventures perfect for Christmas time. After two weeks it is clear: Harry Potter is still a big deal twelve years after the finale of the main series and has a rewatch factor that should not be underestimated.
Fantasy series conquers Amazon Prime: Megan Fox and Eddie Murphy have no chance against Harry Potter
Seven of the eight Harry Potter films made it into Amazon Prime’s top 10 this week. The most popular is the start of the series, then the rest follows in chronological order. It also makes sense that a film is still missing. Apparently many people haven’t gotten to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 yet.
Based on the reviews on Moviepilot, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is with 7.6 out of 10 points the best part of the series – and by a wide margin. Not even Alfonso Cuarón’s brilliant Part 3 can keep up.
The top 10 most popular films on Amazon Prime:
Only three films in the top 10 do not belong to the Wizarding World: the Christmas film Candy Cane Lane with Eddie Murphy, the survival thriller Till Death with Megan Fox and the German fantasy film adaptation Silver and the Book of Dreams. Otherwise, no one can get past the boy who survived.
Chances are good that all of the Harry Potter films will be in the top 10 next week. The only question that remains is whether the offshoots are also around Fantastic beasts have a chance. On Amazon Prime you can currently watch all three parts of the spin-off series with Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander.
